hello, lovely friends! today we're making a constellation greeting card!
supplies
+ a blank greeting card
+ an outline of your favorite constellation : if you're like me and you don't own a printer, just pull up an outline on your computer and trace it! (how technologically advanced of me, right? )
+ a push pin
+ a needle and thread : a color that contrasts with your card works best
+ a paintbrush and acrylic paint
+ place your constellation outline in the center of your blank card. use the push pin to poke evenly spaced holes along the lines of your constellation. (i put a piece up cardboard underneath my card to protect the table.) be sure not to poke through the main stars of your constellation...you'll be painting those in later!
+ when you're finished, you should have a clear outline for stitching!
+ pull your needle through the first hole. to avoid a bulky card, secure the end of your thread with a mounting square (found at all craft stores) or double sided tape instead of a knot.
+ use a simple backstitch to sew your constellation! remember to leave the spaces where your main stars will go.
+ by the time you're done sewing, the inside of your card will be a mess! cut out a square of paper slightly smaller than your card and place it over the back of your stitching using more mounting squares or double sided tape.
+ ta da! no mess!
+ time to paint! use the tip of your paintbrush to fill in the main stars of your constellation. feel free to add more stars in the background!
+ you're done! have a wonderful day!
Good idea. May try it after finishing Valentine cards.
